CMMN SWDN designers Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund established their menswear label in Malmö, Sweden in 2012. After meeting as students at Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion, Bakir and Hedlund were tasked with spearheading Kanye West’s Paris design studio, earning the duo instant industry cred.

CMMN was founded with an eye to reimagining quality basics while featuring a range of progressive pieces in each individual collection. In line with Emma and Saif’s aesthetic, the range of sunglasses made by CMMN SWDN in collaboration with Ace & Tate is a lesson in playing with opposites to create something innovative. The collection, consisting of 3 acetate frames and 3 metal frames, draws inspiration from youth subculture and the complexities of coming of age. These glasses are a homage to nineties sports aesthetic, the designers looked at yesterday’s concept of the future, referencing postmodernist design and hyper modern details.
